SWITCH, Zurich, Switzerland
Abstract
Grid computing is often perceived as a marketing strategy by commercial companies or an argument of researchers to seek funding.
The presentation shows developments in research networking. SWITCH offers pure network connectivity, performance and quality services, a coordinated authentication and authorisation infrastructure and security services for the Swiss Higher Education community.
Behind that misty cloud of hype there is a lot of real work going on.
Countless Grid application projects all over the world drive a collection of increasingly sophisticated Grid technologies.
Putting this together with initiatives like SwissBioGrid and the Large Hadron Collider Grid, the Swiss researchers become part of the Grid community.
