Strategy for the Use of ICT at ETH Zurich

ETH World 2000-2005

The ETH World program came to an end in 2005. This website is no longer updated and contains archival information about the activities.

At its meeting on 16 August 2005 the Executive Board approved the Strategy for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies at ETH Zurich. With this institutional ICT strategy the university wishes to direct the use of new technologies in all core processes.

The strategy was drafted by a working group headed by the ETH World Program Director, Professor Bernhard Plattner. The group moderated a process across the institution to define the goals for using ICT in teaching and learning, research and services.

A new commission will coordinate and champion the implementation of the strategy. The ICT Commission, which will be chaired by Professor Peter Widmayer, is currently being formed. The members will be announced by the end of October, the mandate of the commission will be defined during the fall. A support team will be established for the operative tasks of the commission.

The ETH World program will reach the end of its six-year duration in December 2005. By this time all ETH World projects will be completed. The project results will be transferred into normal operations of the institution. These publications are available in English and German.
