The web portal myETH will provide students, faculty and staff of ETH Zurich with a tool giving them fast and easy access to the most important electronic resources they need. Access to myETH will be integrated into the nethz login.

The core functions of the web portal are content aggregation, i.e. the integration of content from different sources in so-called Channels, and customization, i.e. the possibility to configure this content individually. In addition, selected portal content can be made available for specific target groups. For example, the members of a department or lab can be presented with a predefined selection of electronic journals provided by the ETH-Bibliothek.

myETH is the result of the merger of two ETH World projects: the MyLibrary project of the ETH-Bibliothek and the project ?ETH Portal?, initiated by ETH World, the IT Services and Corporate Communications.

2003/10/15		Konzept: 40 ETH-Mitarbeitende aus Verwaltung, Lehre und Forschung werden zu ihren Informationsbedürfnissen bzw. zu ihrer Einstellung gegenüber einem personalisierbaren Portal befragt. Auf dieser Grundlage entsteht ein Grobkonzept.
2004/03/31		Realisierung: Auf der Basis der Open-Source-Software ?uPortal? wird ein Angebot an Channels konzipiert und programmiert. Meilenstein dieser Phase ist ein funktionaler Prototyp.
2004/04/05		Usability-Test
2004/05/28		Betatest: Der Prototyp wird einem erweiterten Testpublikum unterbreitet.
2004/06/28		Einführung: Das Webportal myETH geht mit einer Version 1.0 und einem Angebot an 18 Channels an den Start.
